This is a fantastic campsite on one of the most beautiful lakes in the district, Buttermere. Unlike the crowded lake windermere with its speed boats and jet skis buttermere is very peaceful, indeed the whole area is wonderfully relaxed and in my opinion is how I would like the whole of the lake district to be.
A group hired some wedding tipis from us in 2010 and we got to spend some time with the new owners.
The new owners of this lake district guesthouse are James and Kelly and they are the friendliest owners
of all the campsites I have ever stayed in, ever (their breakfasts and evening meals are also supurb)
The campsite itself has three tiers and a secluded glade area (this is where we pitched our teepees for the honeymoon). The site also has a very clean shower block and most importantly a drying room.
Now technically my reviews are meant to be focused on the campsites however I feel the need to also mention the guesthouse. I normally camp when I come to the lakes but I once stayed here because it looked brilliant.
They have a large communal lounge with a libary of cd’s and books for you to enjoy. They even have comlimentary herbal teas, fruit and chocolate bars. The lounge is a great place to meet other guests and it is so relaxing it may as well be your living room.
The rooms themselves are always spotless and they have a really nice victorian bath that you can use after a hard days walking.
The breakfast is great, full english with proper thick bacon and a vast array of cereals, spreads and juices.
All in all this bed and breakfast for its price, location, great hosts and food is a real gem. I spoke to people whilst I was staying who had already booked up for the following year. A smashing guest house and campsite all round.
To hire a teepee amongst the trees in the glade area of the campsite, please give us a call to arrange.
